Dont you think that if one could already read English one would be able to speak? Absolutely useless.

I know I am not a language expert but Im pretty sure "English" is spelled English not American, maybe they should have used spellcheck before they published this app.

What a useless piece of crap! American isnt a language. I know Americans are full of themselves but this is going too far even for Americans. Speak american: was this app made by rednecks? Gimme a break. I gave it one star only because the app wouldnt let me go lower.

For whatever peoples say, I tell you all this program is the best for beginner who just start. Dont put this program down. Pour tous les debutants essayer Ce programme.

I had no idea American was a language. As a non-American speaker (or reader) how am I to know which button to press if I want to ask for directions to the local tavern? I may inadvertently ask for a date with some guys mother or worse.

please add retina display and change the icon app to better quality one. You can use better design to improve the app. Please add support for ios 6 and iphone 5. Please add your contact info inside the app so that people can send you feedback very easily.

American is more than a language, its a culture, its a heritage, and its a way of life. This womans voice and attitude IS America, she is Americana. 5 starts.

App very interesting, but It is necessary to increase the number of statements.

This app would be great as a joke app... For actual use traveling to the States, youd be in trouble. Silly, unintelligent-sounding voice actress makes it incredibly hard to take this app or its publisher seriously. If their other apps are similar, wow... Free was too much to pay for this one, Id be angry if Id shelled out actual money!

This is quite bad, and has terrible production values. For example, in "where is the shopping center" (which is something I dont associate with American idiomatic english--"mall" would be more appropriate), there is a beeping in the background. Is the person supposed to be backing up while asking for the shopping center? Terrible. And if you have an app to speak English for you, having a phrase "I speak English" is probably ill-advised.

I guess this app is for those who are learning English and need practice speaking their pronunciation. Im not thrilled with this one

The main problem with this is that America has so many different accents, for example I live in Texas and my uncle lives in Maine, both in the US, however ive talked to germans and brits whos accents are more similar. Also, the girl on the app talks strange for anywere really. She sounds like she is shy or something. Im sure its just because its always more difficult to speak when recording, but this recording just isnt a good representation. She has the "Omg, like that is so five minutes ago!" voice. Advice, try having different recordings, male and female for different areas.
